Painting the World Yellow with Turmeric

INSIDER STORY

turmeric-(1).jpg,#

If you thought that no good can ever come out of the difficulty to remove yellow turmeric stains, think again! Turmeric might leave annoying yellow patches on your hands and clothes but this property actually makes it a great natural dyeing agent.

Just a little turmeric is all you need for that vibrant splash of yellow on your clothes. It is the most easy and cost effective way to infuse new life in old, discarded pieces of clothes.

You no longer need to throw away clothes that have been soiled by turmeric stains. Instead you can just use the golden spice as a dye to give them a beautiful ochre hue.

Dyeing using turmeric is a fairly easy process; add an appropriate amount of turmeric powder to a vessel containing water and let it simmer for 15-20 minutes. The amount of turmeric depends on the intensity of colour you want. Keep increasing the quantity for that extra pop of yellow. Leave the fabric to soak in the mixture while stirring occasionally to ensure the dye is evenly spread on the fabric. When you’ve obtained the desired shade of yellow, leave it out to dry in the sun.

Not that you know this easy trick, it’s time to unleash your creative side with this versatile kitchen ingredient!
